018. A Conversation with Carey Kight

On this episode, we speak with Carey Kight about professional projects, learning while doing, and LA-area mullets. Carey is a Brooklyn-based writer, director, producer, editor, and actor. He is a trained screen and copy writer who used the Post-9/11 GI Bill to study Film Studies at The Ohio State University and Creative Writing for Entertainment at Full Sail University.

Carey built his on-set experience from the ground up. After college, he cut his teeth as an assistant director on independent film sets in Los Angeles working with A-list talent and studying with seasoned filmmakers. He then quickly moved up the ranks as an assistant director and associate producer on commercial, branded, digital, and social campaigns in New York.

On the indie film side, Carey and his wife, Andrea Buccilla, run Greater Fool Productions. Their films have played Florida Film Festival, Panic Fest, Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, Asian American International Film Festival, Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival, and more.

His clients include NASCAR, Anheuser Busch, USGA, Nintendo, Disney XD, FOX Sports, and more. You can see his latest short films one his website, CareyKight.com.
