060. Grants, an Introduction, Part II: Build Your Proposal

While many of us are comfortable with the idea of grants, very few of us are experts when it comes to building a proposal or thinking through a project in a way that will be attractive to a grant committee. The world of grant writing feels foreign and impermeable. And with so much emphasis put on grants during undergrad and grad school as well as from industry websites and conferences, it can seem like we just have to flounder through the applications, hoping for a run of exceptionally good luck.

This week Ryan and Garreth dig into the first eight points of a 16-point discussion on how you can better prepare yourself for writing a grant proposal. It is not a secret language, and it is not a process where the deck is stacked against you. There is a lot to learn before you sit down to tackle your first grant narrative, but you can quickly improve your chances with a little knowledge and preparation.
