025. The Studio Critique and Utopia

Critique is a word that elicits different reactions. For some artists, it’s positive, complete with ideas about improvement, community and wisdom. But for others, the word may be burdened with some heavy–and even traumatic–baggage. Wherever you may find yourself on this spectrum, critique is a necessary part of any artist or designer’s life. So how can we understand what a critique could look like and how can we have more positive experiences moving forward? A studio critique won’t save the world, but it doesn’t have to destroy it either.

We are now weekly!
Every Monday morning you can now enjoy Shockoe Artspeak! We will be alternating between our standard long-form episodes and our new series 30 Below where we take one question and talk about it for 30 minutes or less. So whether you have 30 minutes or an hour or more, there is sure to be something for every art and design lover out there. We promise we can do it!

We are on Patreon!
