From the Vault: Mike Tyson and Grandma Paintings: A Conversation with Chino Amobi #2

As we are all recovering from the excitement and late night surrounding Halloween, we thought it would be good to revisit a solid conversation with multidisciplinary artist and Shockoe Artspace resident artist Chino Amobi.

While 2020 was not the year any of us planned to have, we have finally found ourselves in a 2021 with a hopefulness that things will turn around. A new year is a time for many of us to make resolutions and start new habits, and, as we enter into the New Year season, it is always good to sit down with old friends and catch up.

This week, Ryan and Garreth do just that as they sit down with painter, musician, designer, and multidisciplinary artist Chino Amobi to talk about the reality of life post-2020. As it tends to be during good conversations with good friends, there is plenty of satellite brain debris. Join us for a conversation about aging, boxing and how 2020 continues to teach us important lessons about what really matters in life.

Our award-winning film centers on the art scene in Richmond, Virginia, with a focus on Oregon Hill native and contractor Don Childress, who–to the surprise of many–has an incredible contemporary art collection. This collection includes work from Francisco Clemente, Ron Johnson, and Bill Fisher to name just a few. Check out more on Vimeo!
